November 2007:
We would like to thanks all those who participated in the conference, particularly the speakers who have made great efforts to attend the event. The conference has been a great success and provided a stage for important discussions in a positive atmosphere and constructive spirit.
The conference aimed to open a platform for a broad debate on democratic alternatives to the two-state paradigm, and make those ideas more accessible to the general public. We, the organisers, feel that the first part of this mission was achieved successfully, and we are currently in the process of preparing transcripts and videos of the sessions for publication here on this website. We also hope to have translations made into Arabic and Hebrew.
The two days of discussions in London proved that there's a growing movement among Palestinians and Israelis that calls for thinking about their common future in terms of equality and integration, rather than separation and exclusion. It also became clear in the discussions that there exists within this movement a variety of opinions regarding the desired model of democratic governance, and the forms of action through which this vision would effectively be promoted. The London One State Group will work continuously to advance these discussions and support work groups that will focus on different aspects of the new political landscape we all aspire for.
One important initiative we would like to support here is The One State Declaration, which was published on the 60th anniversary of the General Assembly vote on the UN Partition Plan in 29 November 1947.
Finally, we owe our deepest gratitude to the many people who helped us with organising the conference and keeping it running smoothly. we could not have done it without you all.
